Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account data — email address and login credentials, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). We never see your password.
• Saved locations — names and coordinates you choose to save (e.g. "Home"), used solely to compute nearby-event alerts and your personal nearby-event view. Adding locations is optional.
• Preferences — your category filters and alert thresholds, plus your optional world-summary email frequency and language.
• Push subscriptions — a browser-generated endpoint that lets us deliver notifications you opted into. No message content is stored by third parties.
• Payment data — processed entirely by Stripe. We store only your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference, never card numbers.

World-summary emails are opt-in and use Resend for delivery. We temporarily store the prepared message and recipient to retry delivery without duplicate emails, then clear them after sending, cancellation, or expiry. Each summary includes an unsubscribe link that does not change saved-place alerts.

Your reviewed-event comparison is stored in your account and synchronized between devices. Product analytics record actions such as saving a place or opening the world summary without sending place names, coordinates, searches, email addresses, or account IDs in those event properties. These custom events respect your browser’s Do Not Track setting.

What we don't do

• We do not sell or rent your personal data. Ever.
• We do not track your real-time location. Geolocation is used only at the moment you tap "Use my location," with your browser's permission, to save a point you chose.
• We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Following and notification activity

We store followed incident IDs, their last available public details, notification choices, and your most recent reviewed-event comparison in your account so they sync across devices. Digest interests may include hazard categories, countries, and a saved-place filter. You can unfollow incidents or turn off digests in-app. Test and followed-incident delivery records are retained for up to 90 days; local alert deduplication records for 7 days. Delivery records indicate provider acceptance or failure, not whether you read a message. Account data is removed on account deletion requests as described below.

Service providers

We rely on Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Neon (database), Resend (email delivery), and Vercel (hosting and analytics). Each processes data only to provide their service to us. Map and hazard data come from public sources (USGS, NOAA/NWS, NHC, NASA, GDACS, NOAA nowCOAST, OpenFreeMap); your identity is not shared with them.

Your rights

You can delete saved locations and disable notifications in-app at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, or to request a copy of your data, email apolloprojectsllc@gmail.com — we honor deletion requests within 30 days. California and EU residents have additional rights under CCPA/GDPR, which we respect for all users regardless of location.
